GRK 2250/2 Winter Workshop 2024

  • 17. - 20.01.2024

  • Špindlerův Mlýn, Czech Republic

On 17-20 January, the team gathered for the annual Winter Workshop, which was a great opportunity for the current cohort of PhD students to present the progress of their research project and interact with the invited experts. The program included intensive scientific sessions, fostered by our guest speakers, namely Prof. François Boussu (ENSAIT – Université de Lille, France), with his talk on 3D bio-based textiles for highly resilient composites, Assoc. Prof. Jonathan Tran (RMIT Melbourne, Australia), who presented recent research in the field of bio-inspired lightweight structures for protective purposes, and Prof. Paolo Gardoni (University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, USA), who gave a talk on risk and resilience analysis.

In addition to the Q&A sessions during the presentations, there were several networking opportunities where all participants could meet in smaller groups and engage discussions to pave the way for multidisciplinary research in the group and with the continued support of the Associate Members.

The workshop was also supported by favorable weather conditions, which allowed participants to enjoy outdoor sessions and team-building activities.
